HISTORY OF LATE MR. S.M..ABDUL RAZAK & FAMILY

The existence of Kedai Emas Abdul Razak, for the past 69 years is owned to the late Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak. P.J.K. In 1950, Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak, His Family is a Royal Family in India and also very Rich.  He commonly known as “Sirvadi is a small town which he was having a fame and own Cattle Agricultural,  Mohamed Usman is father of Mr.S.M. Abdul Razak with 2 other friends left Chennai ( then Madras) by ship- SS Rajula from Nagapatinam and arrived at Penang. The trio travelled by road to Kuala Lumpur in search of a job as craftsman. The late Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak was then employed as skilled craftsman by then re-known jewelers’ M/S M.M.E Mohamed Ebrahim. Due to his expertise in craftsmanship, he was appointed as Manufacturing Manager.

His staunch belief in Almighty- exactly 42 days with the blessings of Allah, Lady Luck knocked at his door. To his surprise, he was offered a small portion of the present shop. No 61, Jalan Leboh Ampang at a rental rate of RM 5.00 per month.

Mr.S.M. Abdul Razak, a young, action orientated and determined young lad to achieve his objective started his business and gained the trust of the local community besides the Indians from India who saved part of their earnings with MR. S.M Abdul Razak who in return gave them gold ornaments when they left for India

He made gold ornament like chains, rings when the price of gold was RM3.00 per gram. This modus operandi earned Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak credibility that no one could match. 10 years of struggling, hard work, patience and determination gave him the courage to expand his business  whereby he employed 10 craftsmen from India and started his manufacturing unit.The late Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak then brought his wife the late Madam Bibi Jan from India. His off spring comprises of 4 boys and 3 girls. The turning point for the late Tuan S.M. Abdul Razak was when he decided to purchase the pre-war building which he rented for RM5.00 an achievement that stands tall at No 61, Jalan Leboh Ampang today.

The late Tuan S.M. Abdul Razak was not only a re-known personality in the gold mart industry but was highly respected figure in the community. He was the Trustee for the South India Muslim Mosque at Masjid India. Another achievement by the late Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak was his donation of RM 80,000 then for the purchase of a building for Madrasah in Batu Caves.

The late Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak who was successful entrepreneur was also recognized and awarded by the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce for his outstanding performance and contribution in the industry.

The late Mr. S.M. Abdul Razak, who was planning to retire from active business, slowly trained one of his son A.R Abdul Wahab to study the trade.

Encik A.R Abdul Wahab was trained to be specialized in the design of gold ornaments, besides receiving training in the process of gold.  He also specialized in Gems.

Moving on, Encik A.R Abdul Wahab’s 2nd elder brother (Abdul Rasull) has involved in many activities. Datuk Haji  Abdul Rasull who was equally energetic and dynamic like his father joined the Malaysian Indian Goldsmith and Jeweller Association (MIGJA) as an ordinary member in 1996. In no time MIGJA to tap the potential of Rasull elected him as Vice President in 2001 and the following year, he won the President’s post uncontested which he holds till to date.

During his tenure as President he has solved many issues pertaining to the industry. Due to his active involvement in raising and solving problems in the industry, business in and around Jalan Leboh Ampang formed the Persatuan Perniaga Leboh Ampang (PPPLA) of which En. Rasull as the current President. PPPLA since its formation has resolved many issues   pertaining to the gold business.

Besides all those achievements, Mr.Rasull is the Malaysian Representative in the World Gold Council since 2001. Rasull is also the Vice President of the Selangor Muslim League representing the Urdu community.

AR RAZAK GEMS JEWELLERYS SDN BHD was established by Datuk Haji Rasull’s brother, En. A.R Abdul Wahab to tap the booming Brickfields area.
